G45 Wooden Box

As I stated in a previous post, Graphic 45 paper collections are my favorite.  While it took some time to actually cut the paper, once I got started, I found that it was easy!

For this project I used a wooden box.  I painted the side edges and a portion of the top edges black.  I also painted the inside sides of the box.  I didn't need to paint the whole box, because I will be adding strips of paper so only a small portion of the black will be showing on the outside, and the inside bottom and top will be covered completely with paper.

For this box, I will be using Graphic 45 A Ladies Diary paper collection.  I first chose the paper for the top, cut to size and glued onto the top.  For the top embellishments, I used a couple of the cards and a tag that came with the paper collection.  I also used a Petaloo black flower on the bottom left, a printed flower on the top right, and a die cut dress form.  The middle space looked a little barren, so I added one of Tim Holz's hearts.  I think that gave it the finishing touch.

Now for the inside, I chose two different papers for the inside top and inside bottom.  I'm not one to have the same paper together inside a box or even on a scrapbook layout.  I love to mix patterns, and with the Graphic 45 collections, that's really easy to do!

For the bottom, I added a couple of my favorite cards in the collection.  On the inside top, I used G45 A Ladies Diary pocket and made a tag that I could slip into it.  The ribbon at the end of the tag makes it a little easier to pull out. And on the outside front, I removed the metal closure that came on it, and replaced it with a Tim Holtz clear knob. On the tag, I wrote a message to my BFF, to whom the box was being given.

G45 Matchbox

It's no secret that I am a HUGE fan of Graphic 45 products.  I have just about every line of paper they have made, as well as their staples products.  Most of the paper I won't cut because it's just too beautiful lol.  But, what good is the gorgeous paper if you don't use it?

For the project, I used the Graphis 45 By the Sea collection and their Small Matchbox.  I inked the edges of the box with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Wild Honey.  I then chose the paper I wanted to use for the top and sides.  I cut the paper about 1/8" smaller than the actual size of placement area.  For the top, I mitered the edges so that it would have a nice clean look.  I ran the strips through my Xyron X and applied to box top and sides.

To finish off the top, I used the seahorse from Tim Holtz's Sand and Sea die.  I used several colors of distress ink on the seahorse.  I then covered the whole seahorse with Tim Holtz Clear Rock Candy Crackle Paint.  When dried, this left small crackles throughout the seahorse.  I then cut some coral and seaweed with my Cricut Explore. I sanded the edges of the coral and seaweed to give it a distressed look.  The finishing piece to the top was a piece of old fishing net applied to the underside of the square hole in the top of the box.

For the inside, I cut paper the size of the bottom and glued it in.  I then used the lighthouse card contained in the paper pack and placed it in the bottom center.

I hope you like my version of the Graphic 45 Small Matchbox.  I found that it's really not too difficult to cut into your favorite papers!!!

Onesie & T-Shirts

It's becoming a busy time of year for me!  I know a lot of women who are having babies, and my husband's friends have asked me to make them fishing themed t-shirts.

First, I have a onesie.  The theme is based on the actual baby shower invitation which says something to the affect of the adventure beginning.  A new life sure is an adventure!  So this is my version of the beginning of an adventure.

Next up I have a few fishing t-shirts for a friend of ours.

My Silhouette Cameo in simply amazing!  It lets me create things I never thought possible.  And my heat press is my best friend!  This time of year, I get a lot of friends asking for images to be put on tumblers, shirts, bathing suit cover-ups, and don't forget the Bride and Bride's maids.

Summertime Water Bottles and Tumblers

Hey everyone!  Finally, the weather is changing and its starting to get warm here.  You know what that means.....water bottles, tumblers, and lemonade pitcher!

I want to start by showing you this mason jar pitcher with a spigot that I added some 651 adhesive vinyl to.  My son and his girlfriend's kitchen is lemon themed, so I thought this would be a perfect addition!

I purchased the images for the pitcher from the Silhouette Design Store.

Next up are some water bottles for smaller kids.  The designs for these bottles were purchased from Cricut Design Space.  Once again, I used 651 adhesive vinyl for the designs.

I was asked by a friend of mine who is a Grateful Dead fan, to make her a tumbler with straw.  This is what I came up with:

The last couple of tumblers were made for friends.  One is an elephant lover, and the other is in a Sorority in college.

No Soliciting!

Do you get tired of the pesky door-to-door solicitors!  I'm not about where you live, but where I live, we get people selling anything from newspapers, to new roofs, to house renovations, and more recently some saying they can lower our electric bill!

Well,  a friend of mine who as a toddler, as well as a couple of dogs, is disgusted with these solicitors tool  She asked me to make a sign for her to display on her front porch to help discourage these solicitors.

With my friend, a door knock or door bell ring, started a chain reaction!  The dogs would start barking, which woke up the baby an made him cry, then you have a very unhappy mother!!
This is the sign we came up with! To my knowledge she hasn't had any further trouble with solicitors at her home.

This was a quick and easy sign to make.  I took a piece of 10 x 16 piece of wood, sanded it down so that it was really smooth.  Added a coupe of light coats of Golden Oak Stain and let dry.  While the board was drying I used my Silhouette Cameo and a piece of 651 Outdoor Adhesive vinyl to cut out the lettering.  I then applied the lettering to the sign and added a piece of deerskin leather to the top so that it can be hung!  And it's a quick way to make a sign when you have limited time!!

First Grandson Onesies!!

I thought I was totally prepared with handmade HTV onesies for my soon-to-be arriving grandbaby. Well, I wasn't.

Two days ago, I was blessed with my first grandchild.....a grandson.  He was a big little guy. He weighed in at 9 lbs. 14 oz.

The onesies I had prepared in advance were size Newborn.  He was too big to fit into them lol.  So what does a new grandmom do?  She stays up all hours of the night to re-make the onesies in 0-3 months, a size which will fit him for a short time.

On top of that, my other son and his girlfriend also wanted to give the baby a handmade onesie, so I added that to my list of things to do immediately!

When I saw his little face, I knew some of the onesies I had made, didn't fit his little personality.  So these are the ones I made for my precious grandson.

HTV Shirt Day!

My niece was visiting a couple of weeks ago and she wanted to make some t-shirts for her and her husband.

Off to my craft room we go!  She wanted some summer/beach/boating themed shirts for them.  After looking in the Silhouette Design store and getting a few images, we also created some of our own images.

They boat a lot, so, of course, Boat Hair Don't Care was on the list.  Also on the list was a Beach Life Shirt, a couple of fishing shirts, and a shirt with their boat name on it.  We cut all the images out on my Silhouette Cameo, and heat pressed them on the shirts with my heat press.

My niece had soo much fun, she ordered a Silhouette Cameo and Heat Press for herself.  She is now enjoying the craft of HTV!!
