Glamping

What is ‘glamping’?, you may ask.
Well… it’s a trend that offers outdoor enthusiasts an upgrade on rest and recreation known as glamorous camping. When you’re glamping, there’s no tent to pitch, no sleeping bag to unroll, no long journey to find a bathroom. Whether you’re staying in a tent, yurt, airstream, pod, igloo, hut, villa, cabin, cube, teepee or treehouse, glamping is a way to experience the great outdoors without sacrificing luxury. Sounds good, right?!

Using Canvas Corp supplies, I have made a couple of glamping inspired home decor elements like cushion cover and table setting… are you ready?

My husband and I were looking at new campers. I really liked the Retro ones, but I knew the hubby would never go for it. So the next best thing would be fun, retro placemats! Off to Canvas Corp I went because they always have the canvas products I need/want. While shopping, I noticed that there were Cutlery Holders, how cool is that! The Cutlery Holders went into my cart, as well as placemats and a pillow cover.

Witch's Boot Card

Hey there!  Today I'm sharing The Cutting Cafe's Witch Boot Card.  This card is not only perfect for Halloween, but can also be altered a little bit to be used a a country style boot.

I started out by cutting all my pieces on my electronic cutting machine.  There were a couple of pieces I did not use on the final card.  Those were the pieces that made the buckle on the boot band.

To begin assembly, I placed the printed boot piece on top of the solid boot piece and adhered it with glue.  I knew I wanted something hanging from the back of the boot but didn't know exactly what so I went digging through my stash and found a dangle crystal.  I strung the crystal on some orange baker's twine and secured the ends under the boot band.  I then thought to add some purple to the card so I added a piece of purple baker's twine the same way as the orange.  I then adhered the boot band to the boot.

For the finishing touches, I added some Tim Holtz Distress Glitter to the star that sits on the toe of the boot,  and took my sharpie and colored two of them purple to add as buttons on the back of the boot.

Surf Shack

I'm very excited to announce that this is my first project for Simply Crafty Svgs!  The file I started with was Garden Shack SVG File.  I'm the kind of person who doesn't like to follow the file exactly, and usually put my own spin on them.

For this Surf Shack, I cut out the pieces labeled Box 1 and Box 2.  I removed the cut window piece, folded it in half, and glued it inside the shack to make a shelf.  From there, I glued the actual box pieces together.  I did leave the side piece unglued so that you can open the side and put a little gift or even a battery tea light.

From there, I needed to figure out a way to make the thatched roof.  I cut a 3" strip of 12" long paper and with my paper cutter, I cut strips 1/4" wide to make the thatching strips.  To apply the strips to the roof, I added a small glue dot on the back end and stuck it down on the back of the roof.  I overlapped the strips so that the whole roof was covered.

Then, I needed to put my thinking cap on.  The whole shack was a tan color with a green thatched roof.  I needed color on the front, sides, and back.  For the front, I used Crushed Olive Distress Ink and covered the whole front, including the door.  For the shelf, I used Peacock Distress Ink.

For the sides, I added a piece of olive green patterned paper from my stash.  Then, on the right side I cut out some colorful hibiscus flowers with my elecronic cutter and applied them to the side.

Then I went back to the front.  I cut a 2" long piece of paper and cut it into thin strips, then sandpapered it for a distressed look.  I added that under the shelf.  I felt like I still needed some tropical feel to this shack, so I cut some palm leaves with my electronic cutter and placed them around the front window, next to the door, and across the top.

For the back, I continued placing the palm leaves until I covered the entire back.

You can't have a surf shack without surfboards!!  I, once again, cut a couple surfboards out with my elecronic cutter and pop dotted them on the side so that they would be a little dimensional.

This is a photo of the left side on a slant so you can see the front door.  At this point, I felt that my surf shack looked pretty good.  The only thing missing was a handwritten sign!  On a piece of brighter blue paper I added CJ's Shack to the sign on the front door!

Onesie & T-Shirts

It's becoming a busy time of year for me!  I know a lot of women who are having babies, and my husband's friends have asked me to make them fishing themed t-shirts.

First, I have a onesie.  The theme is based on the actual baby shower invitation which says something to the affect of the adventure beginning.  A new life sure is an adventure!  So this is my version of the beginning of an adventure.

Next up I have a few fishing t-shirts for a friend of ours.

My Silhouette Cameo in simply amazing!  It lets me create things I never thought possible.  And my heat press is my best friend!  This time of year, I get a lot of friends asking for images to be put on tumblers, shirts, bathing suit cover-ups, and don't forget the Bride and Bride's maids.

No Soliciting!

Do you get tired of the pesky door-to-door solicitors!  I'm not about where you live, but where I live, we get people selling anything from newspapers, to new roofs, to house renovations, and more recently some saying they can lower our electric bill!

Well,  a friend of mine who as a toddler, as well as a couple of dogs, is disgusted with these solicitors tool  She asked me to make a sign for her to display on her front porch to help discourage these solicitors.

With my friend, a door knock or door bell ring, started a chain reaction!  The dogs would start barking, which woke up the baby an made him cry, then you have a very unhappy mother!!
This is the sign we came up with! To my knowledge she hasn't had any further trouble with solicitors at her home.

This was a quick and easy sign to make.  I took a piece of 10 x 16 piece of wood, sanded it down so that it was really smooth.  Added a coupe of light coats of Golden Oak Stain and let dry.  While the board was drying I used my Silhouette Cameo and a piece of 651 Outdoor Adhesive vinyl to cut out the lettering.  I then applied the lettering to the sign and added a piece of deerskin leather to the top so that it can be hung!  And it's a quick way to make a sign when you have limited time!!

HTV Shirt Day!

My niece was visiting a couple of weeks ago and she wanted to make some t-shirts for her and her husband.

Off to my craft room we go!  She wanted some summer/beach/boating themed shirts for them.  After looking in the Silhouette Design store and getting a few images, we also created some of our own images.

They boat a lot, so, of course, Boat Hair Don't Care was on the list.  Also on the list was a Beach Life Shirt, a couple of fishing shirts, and a shirt with their boat name on it.  We cut all the images out on my Silhouette Cameo, and heat pressed them on the shirts with my heat press.

My niece had soo much fun, she ordered a Silhouette Cameo and Heat Press for herself.  She is now enjoying the craft of HTV!!

Mother's Day Card

Hi there!  This year I wanted to make my mother-in-law a different type of Mother's Day card.  The first place I went was the Silhouette Design Store.  They have soo many types and shapes of cards, it's really hard to choose.

When I came across this sewing machine, I knew that was the perfect one!  My mother-in-law has been a long time seamstress and I just knew she would love this.

I cut the card out with my Silhouette Cameo using different patterned papers from my stash.  For the needle and handle, I heat embossed them silver using embossing power by Brutus Monroe.  I then added just a few enamel dots and a flower and it was done!

This was definitely a quick and easy card to make!!

Easter Basket Lining and Onesie

I know this post is a little late, but better late than never, as my Mom always told me!

A friend of mine needed an Easter basket for her daughter.  She couldn't find a lined basket that she liked.  So, she bought a nice white basket and some really pretty fabric to make a liner.  Along with the basket and fabric, she also dropped off a onesie to be deisnged for Easter.

I had never made a basket lining before, so the first place I went was Google.  I don't know how I ever lived without Google!  You can find everything there!  I found directions on how to make a basket lining for a round basket, took the measurements I needed and cut the fabric.

The first part was to sew the bottom circle to the side fabric.  The side fabric had to be gathered some to fit the circle.  The next to sew together was the flap.  I measured twice and cut once for the front flap and back flap pieces.

Next on the agenda was personalization.  I put one of the flap pieces in my embroidery machine and added her name.

Then sewed the flap pieces to the basket lining and added some ribbon at the end of each flap so that it could be tied on the basket.

On to the onesie.  My friend had picked out a super cute Easter image for the onesie.  I purchased this image from Apex Embroidery and cut it out of Heat Transfer Vinyl.  Using my heat press, I pressed it onto the onesie.

My friend was extremely happy with both the basket and the onesie!!  That sure makes a girl feel good!

Snips and Snails Baby Banner & Diaper Cake

I was tickled pink when I was asked to make a banner for my soon-to-be grandson. My son had asked that i use the words “Little One” so that he could hang it in the baby’s room. I wanted to use fabrics for the pennants so that it would hang well and last for a while. I had purchased the Snips and Snails mixed media pack and that’s where it all started. With the colors I used, it looks perfect over his changing table! I also made a coordinating diaper cake utilizing paper from Snips and Snails,

STEP 1

The first thing I did was choose the fabrics I wanted to work with, and cut them into the shapes I needed.

Step 2

I then splattered baby blue High Impact Paint and metallic white High Impact paint on all my pennant pieces. When they were dry, I added a light spray of navy blue and old lace Glimmer Mist.

STEP 3

The lettering was cut on my Silhouette Cameo using paper from the Snips and Snails collection. I distressed the edges of the circle with my distresser. I layered the cut out letter on a solid circle so that the baby blue stood out. I then added some burlap ribbon at the top.

STEP 4

For the end pieces, I cut two ovals out of burlap. I used my Big Shot and Tim Holtz’s Tattered Flower template to cut flowers or each end.

STEP 5

For the blue burlap pennant between the words, I used a burlap circle layered on a piece of paper from the collection, and a tag from the new Baby Tag set.

STEP 6

Between the first pennant, and between the words, I tore some denim and canvas to make a fringy look. I then added some navy glimmer mist, baby blue and white metallic high impact paint.

STEP 7

For the penants at each end, I used my Big Shot and cut Tim Holtz Tattered Flowers and adhered them on the burlap ovals.

STEP 8

I then cut some burlap ribbon and adhered to to the top of each pennant piece.

STEP 9

For the finishing touch, I used the Crop-a-Dile and attached bronze eyelets so I could thread the twine through all pieces.

It looks great on the wall above the changing table.  All the colors used are just perfect!
